# Borrowstyle

> Borrowstyle is a Chrome extension that reads the design of any website — fonts, colours, sizes, spacing, corners, shadows, components, images and icons — and turns it into a DESIGN.md file plus design tokens (tokens.json, tailwind.config.js, CSS variables, Figma variables, shadcn theme) that AI coding tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, v0, Lovable and Bolt can follow. Free; Pro is $5 a month or $39 once.

Key facts:
- Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc on Mac and Windows. Not Firefox or Safari yet.
- Runs locally in the browser on the tab you open it on. No page content is sent to Borrowstyle. No account needed.
- Works on sites behind a login and on single-page apps (React, Vue).
- Four verbs: Read (whole design in about half a second), Pick (click any element for its measurements), Make (make the look your own), Take (developer pack, images, icons, screenshots, Copy for AI).
- Free: Read, Pick, colours, fonts, DESIGN.md, Copy for AI, images/icons/screenshots. Pro ($5/month or $39 one-time, up to 3 computers): Make it yours, component code (HTML, Tailwind, React, CSS), Check my build, Mix sites, full developer pack.
- Meant for learning and getting the feel right, not for copying another company's logos, images, text or paid fonts. When a font is paid, Borrowstyle names it and suggests a free stand-in.
